Physical Description: He has dark black hair, short and messy. He is 5 foot 8 inches tall with a slim build.
Background: He was identified for Jedi training at birth and was destined to travel to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant when the Jedi mysteriously disappeared. When Balin's parents learned that Imperial officials were taking jedi candidates from their homes, they managed to smuggle Balin away into hiding. Balin was raised by his foster mother, Myr Shandor, a Nautolan physician and member of the nascent resistance against the Empire. Myr, a former Jedi, has been instructing Balin in the ways of the Force. Balin believes his birth parents to be dead, murdered by the Imperial Inquisitor named Drakkon.
Personality:He has a great understanding of tactics, battle planning and support but with no actual field experience.
Objectives: Balin hopes to one day restore the great Jedi order/council and help lead the rebellion.

Balin travels with an R2 unit he calls Parts or Parts Drop (PD), not because he thinks the droid is extra parts but because the droid has a tendency (despite repeated attempts to reprogram) to take random parts from ships and places it has been and keeps them stored in hidden locations for later uses.
